Books - 1 to 3
I have just finished reading three good books. I am sure you will also
enjoy reading them.
1. A new new thing: the Silicon Valley story by Michael Lewis
2. Uncle Petros and Goldbach's conjecture.
3. The pleasure of finding things out by Richard P Feynman.
The first one is a biography of Jim Clarke the founder of Silicon Graphic, Netscape
and Healthion. It talks about IITs and the engineers produced by them -
an inspiring story.
The second one is fiction. It is about the Goldbach's conjecture weaved through
uncle Petrols and his nephew. The publishers have announced one million
dollars prize to any one who can solve Goldbach's conjecture within
two years. Golbach's conjecture is that an even number greater than two
can always be expressed as a sum of two prime numbers. Uncle Petros and his
family is fiction but rest of the characters are real and stories about
them are also real anecdotes about mathematicians: engrossing.
The third one comprises of lectures and interviews of Feynman. He was noble laureate
in Physics and was the most talked about Scientist in the second half of the
twentieth century. Anything written by him or on him is worth reading.
